Privacy policy

This text is general information and is pending legal review. It may change before launch; material changes will be announced on the site and, for members, by email.
Who we are
IPTV Help (iptvhelp.ca) serves people in Canada and follows Canada’s federal privacy law, the Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). The operator’s legal name and mailing address will be published here before launch.
The site owner is responsible for personal information at IPTV Help and acts as privacy officer. Contact: help@supportiptv.ca.
IPTV Help is operated by the owner of IPTV services. Those services are excluded from all rankings, reviews and comparisons on this site. Scores are computed from customer reviews by a public formula that is the same for every provider; editor-chosen positions are labelled, and payment never changes a score or a position. We never use forum or account data to market the owner’s service unless you separately agree to receive messages that name it, and no member data is passed to the owner’s service without your own action.
What we collect and why
We collect only what we need to run the community and keep it fair. We don’t sell personal information and we don’t use it for advertising.
| What | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Account: email address, display name, username, optional province and bio | To create your account, sign you in, and show who wrote what | While your account exists |
| Google account ID and the email Google shares (only if you sign in with Google) | To sign you in with Google | While the link to Google exists |
| Reviews submitted without an account: the name you choose to show and your email | To show your review under that name, stop duplicate reviews and contact you about it. The email is never shown | While the review exists |
| What you post: threads, replies, reviews, votes, flags and outage or scam reports | To run the community, the rankings and moderation | While your account exists, or as set out below |
| Evidence you attach to a negative review or scam report | So moderators can check serious claims. Only moderators see it | A limited time after the moderation decision |
| Network data: a hash of your IP address, plus the network (ASN) and country Cloudflare reports | Rate limits, spam and abuse prevention, and detecting fake or coordinated reviews | Up to 90 days |
| Sign-in sessions: a hashed session token and a short device description (for example “Chrome on Windows”) | To keep you signed in and let you see your active sessions | Until the session expires (30 days without use, 1 year at most) |
| Email preferences and consent records | To send only the emails you agreed to, and to prove that consent (Canada’s anti-spam law) | While your account exists, then up to 3 years as a record |
| Moderation records | To apply the guidelines fairly and handle appeals | About 2 years |
We don’t collect your date of birth, payment details, or the login details of any IPTV service, and you should never send them to us.
What is public and what is not
Public: your username and display name, when you joined, what you post (threads, replies and published reviews), badges and trust level, and your province if you choose to show it. A review submitted without an account shows the name you chose.
Never public: your email address, your IP address or network data, private reports and the evidence attached to them, and your email preferences.
IP addresses
We don’t store IP addresses. When you sign in or submit something, we keep only a one-way hash of your IP address, made with a secret salt that changes every month. That lets us apply rate limits and spot many accounts acting from one connection within a short window, without keeping the address itself. Hashes from different months can’t be linked to each other, and we clear these hashes and the related network details after 90 days. Moderators never see the hashes, only signals such as “shares a network with other accounts”.
Cookies and storage
We use only essential cookies, so there is no cookie banner. We don’t use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
- Session cookie (
__Host-ih_sess): keeps you signed in. Set only when you sign in; expires after 30 days without use. The cookie holds a random token; we store only a hash of it. - Sign-in security: a short-lived cookie may be used during sign-in itself to protect against forged requests.
- Theme preference (browser storage, not a cookie): remembers light or dark mode on your device. It is never sent to us.
- Cloudflare security: Cloudflare may set cookies to protect the site from bots and abuse, and our forms use Cloudflare Turnstile, an anti-spam check, on some actions such as submitting a review or signing in.
If we ever add analytics or other tools that use non-essential cookies or tracking, we will update this policy first and ask for consent where required.
Automated processing and AI
IPTV Help uses automated programs. Some of them process content:
- Automated checks can hold a post or review for a human moderator, or reduce the weight of a review in the rankings. Only people remove content.
- Some of them use AI models to screen content or write short summaries of public reviews. AI-written text is always labelled as AI-generated.
- AI models receive only content that is public or about to be published. They never receive your email address, IP data or private reports.
If an automated decision affects you, you can ask for a person to review it by appealing (see the guidelines) or by emailing help@supportiptv.ca.
Service providers and where data is stored
- Cloudflare hosts IPTV Help and processes data for us: website hosting and security, our database, email sending and routing, anti-spam checks, and the AI models our agents use. Our database is stored in the United States.
- Google receives the fact that you signed in, if you choose Google sign-in. We receive your Google account ID and email address.
Because data is stored and processed outside Canada, it may be accessible to courts, law-enforcement and national security authorities in those countries under their laws. If we add or change a service provider that handles personal information, we will list it here.
We send sign-in links and essential account messages, such as security alerts or notices about your content. Emails about site activity, such as replies, can be turned off. We send newsletters, digests or anything promotional, including anything about the site owner’s service, only if you have expressly agreed to that kind of email, and every such email has an unsubscribe link that works immediately. We don’t buy email lists or email people who aren’t members, and we don’t track email opens or clicks.
How long we keep data
- Account information: while your account exists.
- IP hashes and related network details: cleared after 90 days.
- Sign-in links: expire shortly after they are sent and can’t be used again.
- Sessions: until they expire.
- Removed or rejected content: kept for up to a year after the decision, longer only if needed for a legal matter.
- Moderation and complaint records: about 2 years.
- Backups: the database’s point-in-time recovery history (Cloudflare D1 Time Travel) rolls off automatically within 30 days.
Your rights
You can ask to access the personal information we hold about you, correct it, get a copy in a portable format (JSON), delete your account, or withdraw consent to optional emails. Email help@supportiptv.ca from the address on your account; we may need to confirm it is you. We answer within 30 days.
When you delete your account: your sign-in data, sessions, votes and preferences are deleted, your reviews are removed and the affected providers’ scores are recalculated, and your account details are erased. Forum posts that others may have replied to stay, shown as “Deleted member”, unless you also ask us to erase their text. Copies in backups disappear as the backups roll off.
If you aren’t satisfied with our answer, you can complain to the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. Residents of Quebec can also contact the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec.
Security
We use measures suited to the information we hold: encrypted connections, no passwords, sign-in tokens stored only as hashes, hashed IP addresses, and access to private reports and evidence limited to moderators. No system is perfectly secure. If a breach creates a real risk of significant harm, we will notify affected people and the Privacy Commissioner as the law requires.
Age, changes and contact
IPTV Help is for people aged 18 and over. If we learn an account belongs to someone under 18, we close it and delete its data.
We may update this policy; the date at the top shows the latest version. Material changes will be announced on the site and, for members, by email.
